THE RERE DORTER
The monastic latrines: In some places water was supplied by a pump to increase pressure; in other monasteries buckets of water would have been used, some diverted a stream in order to clean the effluent. All waste from the kitchens and the rere dorter was directed away from the site then on to the fishponds.
